Multimedia World is a spinoff of PC World focusing on multimedia hardware and software. The magazine paid special attention to multimedia games and CD-ROMs, as well as operating systems, music software, and anything adjacent to home computer media production.

Like its parent magazine, Multimedia World was owned by IDG Communications.

NewType Gaming was a magazine for the hardcore gaming audience. Although NewType Gaming covered a variety of topics of interest to hardcore gamers, such as import games and anime, the cover stories were often about competitive games and arcade games, particularly recent fighting games. The magazine was published bimonthly on an irregular schedule for nearly two years.

NewType Gaming may have been inspired by Newtype, an unrelated Japanese media magazine.
