Abstract

This letter was posted on social media by Matt Miller, the final editor-in-chief of Game Informer magazine, one week after the magazine's abrupt closure by GameStop. Although it was published independently and is not part of Game Informer's official publication history, this is effectively the final editorial piece for the magazine.

This appears to be a solicitation to sign up for the preview "Charter" issue of PC Accelerator, some time around when the magazine was first launched. It is unclear how it was distributed. The letter also came with a poster for PC Acclerator.

During its first incarnation as PCGames, the magazine's publishing schedule was inconsistent, alternating between monthly, bimonthly, or sometimes seasonal publishing. Because issues were unnumbered, it is unknown how many issues of PCGames were published and which issues may be missing from the collection.

Scope and Contents This item includes a subscriber letter included with Issue 27 (January 1995) of Super Play, along with a collection of Super Play postcards, contained in a polybag advertising Super Play's 1996 calendar. The date discrepancy between the subscriber letter and the calendar suggest that items do not go together; in fact, the postcards may not go with either of these.These items were acquired as part of a single lot. This email was sent to Game Informer subscribers by GameStop on August 2, 2024 to announce the end of the magazine. After this email was sent, the entire Game Informer website was replaced with the same statement.
