Abstract

Super Play was a British magazine covering the Super Nintendo console, notably with a focus on Japanese import titles, many of which were not released in the United States or Europe. The magazine also included coverage of anime and manga. The magazine was discontinued in 1996 and replaced by N64 Magazine, another Nintendo magazine published by Future.

Although Super Play was discontinued in 1996, it was revived for a single issue in October 2017 as a supplement to Retro Gamer magazine to celebrate the release of the Super NES Classic Edition. The revival issue brought back many of the former staff, including cover artist Wil Overton.

Arrangement

This collection of Super Play was acquired as a single lot, with the exception of the 2017 revival issue. The contents are arranged as they were received. Supplements are not matched with their issues, and certain polybag contents may not reflect how they were originally distributed. Known discrepancies are noted in their individual records.
