Abstract
Michael Shorrock is a game producer and executive who worked at companies including Broderbund, Sega of America, and e-learning company Ninth House Network. Shorrock's career focused on interactive content delivery and educational games.
Notably, Shorrock was the vice president of programming for Sega Channel, a cable-based game delivery system for Sega Genesis, produced by Sega of America in conjunction with Tele-Communications, Inc. and Time Warner Cable. While working for Sega, Shorrock was also involved with a proposal for Express Games, a computer game delivery system that would have succeeded Sega Channel.
Custodial History
Michael Shorrock loaned these materials to the Video Game History Foundation to be digitized. They were returned to Shorrock after digitization, with exceptions noted in individual records.
Existence and Location of Originals
The items in this collection were returned to Michael Shorrock after digitization. At the time of cataloging this collection, Shorrock planned to donate the physical items to another institution.
Separated Materials
Michael Shorrock also provided a binder containing a presentation given by Sony at the 2005 Game Developers Conference, when Shorrock served as Director of 3rd Party Relations for Sony Computer Entertainment of America. Because this was the only item in this collection unrelated to Sega Channel, it was separated into another collection (see "Facilitating Innovation slide printouts" in "Game Developers Conference presentations").
Physical Description
Most material was received in good condition. Some papers were lightly curled or warped from storage.
