Spyro assembled character concept, 1997
Scope and Contents
This is the original combined artwork for the character design for Spyro, with the head and torso clearly made from separate pieces of paper that have been taped together. At some point in the design process, changes were made to this artwork using white-out, such as the conspicuous removal of spines on Spyro's tail.
During the digitization process, Stitt and VGHF staff discovered that the full-body art of Spyro could be viewed if the paper containing Spyro's head was folded back. This version was also scanned and is included.

Abstract
According to Craig Stitt, artist Charles Zembillas drew a variety of dragon concepts while searching for an ideal design for the Spyro character. The artists ultimately cut the head off one dragon and attached it to the torso of another dragon, creating this design which became the basis for Spyro.
