Content Description

A collection of documents, publications, and photos from the career of Rita Zimmerer, executive vice president of Sunsoft of America and founding director of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS). Zimmerer oversaw the production, marketing, sales, and distribution of over 100 titles by Sunsoft from 1989–1994. Her papers include internal correspondence, press communications, concept art, and marketing plans and materials for Sunsoft titles. This accession also includes internal documentation and correspondence from Zimmerer's work for AIAS, including board minutes.

These materials were donated to the Video Game History Foundation by the family of Rita Zimmerer during a visit to their residence from May 31 – June 6, 2023. The materials are part of a larger collection of work related to Zimmerer's career, which remained with the family (see "Retention Rule").
