Abstract

Forgotten Worlds is a limited edition zine series celebrating the history of video game magazines, fan zines, and pccassionally related topics such as game box art. The zine is independently published by Melbourne-based writer Mikolai Napieralski (doing business as American 80s) and includes highlights of historical video game magazines and interviews with their editors.

This is an ongoing and incomplete collection of Forgotten Worlds. Early issues of Forgotten Worlds came with an inserted letter from the editor and other paper inserts, which are included under the front cover as they were originally distributed.

The initial runs of most issues are limited to 200 or 250 copies (with the exception of the preview issue, Issue 0, which is limited to 100).

Foul Videogame Subculture was an independent magazine published by Multimedia 1.0, a video game store in New York. The magazine attempted to cover video games from an edgy, explicit angle celebrating "every sin imaginable" (issue 8, p.6). Most content in Foul is deliberately offensive, sexist, and obscene, at times verging into hate speech and pornography.
