Electronic Entertainment Expo 1998 event footage [Hi8], May 27–30, 1998
Scope and Contents
This videotape mainly features Nintendo of America's annual E3 press conference. Among many games shown at this event, this presentation includes an extended roll-out for the Pokémon franchise, which launched in the United States later that year. This video also includes a press conference for Squaresoft, which marked the American press debut of the game Final Fantasy VIII; the game premiered earlier that year in Japan.
The remaining video on this tape is an extended hands-on look at two Nintendo 64 titles, Banjo-Kazooie and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, with additional footage of the unreleased game Twelve Tales: Conker 64.

Historical Note
E3 1998 may mark the first time that the American press was able to play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Although the game was demoed at other events in Japan, this is the earliest event we can identify when a hands-on demo of the game were available tor the English-language press.
