GameFan
GameFan special issues and spin-offs
The library has a complete physical collection of the main run of GameFan. Due to publication difficulties, only five issues of Volume 6 were actually produced, although they retain issue numbering based on the month they were published. Volume 7, Issue 2 was also not produced.
The collection also includes several special issues of GameFan; the only print issue of the unofficial GameFan spin-off magazine GameGO!; and issues of the relaunched GameFan from 2010.
Gamers' Republic
Gamers' Republic was a monthly gaming magazine managed by Dave Halverson, founder of GameFan magazine, after leaving his previous publication. Like GameFan, Gamers' Republic was aimed at the hardcore gaming audience, with a focus on Japanese games and developers, along with coverage of anime.
Play
Play (sometimes Play Magazine) is a gaming magazine started by Dave Halverson, who previously founded GameFan and Gamers' Republic. As with Halverson's other magazines, Play has a special focus on Japanese import games, anime, and niche genres that appeal to a dedicated gaming audience.
Not to be confused with Play, a British PlayStation magazine launched in 1995 and re-launched in 2021.
Play Magazine Presents: Girls of Gaming, 2003–2010
Content Note: Play Magazine Presents: Girls of Gaming features sexualized imagery.
