Genre-specific game magazines

This collection includes the first issues of HyperPlay RPG (a complete collection at the time of cataloging), as well as the Art of RPGs special. The collection is missing other special issues.

HyperPlay also publishes English translations of Japanese strategy guides and manuals; these are not included in this collection.

This is a partial collection of Casual Connect, including the first issue under the name Minna Magazine.

NewType Gaming was a gaming magazine with a focus in competitive games and fighting games. Although the magazine covered a variety of topics, including import games, the cover stories were often about recent fighting games and arcade games. The magazine was publishing bimonthly on an irregular schedule for nearly two years.

This collection has the first issues of three separate magazines, Personal Computer Combat Simulations and PC Special by Challenge Publications, and PC Ace by Vector Publishing Group. The total number of issues published for each magazine is unknown, although PC Combat Simulations ran until at least February 1995 (PC Special, Volume 1, Number 1, p.50).
