GMR

Abstract

GMR was a monthly gaming magazine that was sold exclusively at the retailer EB Games. As a gimmick, staring with Issue 12, each issue of GMR was given a special title, eg., Issue 15 was called "The Radical Issue." GMR also produced a large number of variant covers compared to other game magazines.

The magazine ceased publication in early 2005, shortly before GameStop announced they would purchase EB Games.

Hardcore Gamer

Abstract Hardcore Gamer was a magazine by DoubleJump Publishing, founded by alumni of GameFan magazine, that covered current and retro games. Hero Illustrated

Abstract

Hero Illustrated was a comics magazine by Sendai Publishing, the publishers of Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM), under the name Warrior Publications. The magazine's staff overlapped with EGM, including editor Steve Harris. Although Hero Illustrated was not focused on video games, the magazine included ads for video games and occasionally covered games based on comics.

High-End was a video game magazine "for advanced video gamers," focusing on console games, import games, and next-generation hardware. The magazine operated on an erratic schedule, only publishing four known issues over two years. HyperPlay RPG

Abstract

HyperPlay is a British fanzine about retro Japanese role-playing games. The magazine is published by its eponymous editor Kincl and tends to focus on games from the 1990s and early 2000s for the Super Nintendo and PlayStation 1 and 2. The magazine also features original fanart for the featured games in that issue.

IGN magazines

Abstract The gaming news website IGN tried multiple times to produce a magazine based on their site. Their first attempt, IGN64.com The Magazine, was published by their owner Imagine Media back when the site originally exclusively covered Nintendo 64 games. This iteration of the magazine listed only one issue. Later in 2001 as an independent company, they attempted to relaunch their magazine with GameShark under the title IGN.com The Magazine....
