GamePro

Abstract

GamePro was one of the longest-running American video game magazines, published continuously from May 1989 until the end of 2011. The magazine was originally published by SuperPlay, before being acquired by IDG Communications after the first issue.

GamePro continued to operate as an independent unit of IDG until the magazine was dissolved in Winter 2011, following a final issue which attempted to pivot the magazine from a monthly to quarterly format.

Gamers' Republic was a monthly gaming magazine managed by Dave Halverson, founder of GameFan magazine, after leaving his previous publication. Like GameFan, Gamers' Republic was aimed at the hardcore gaming audience, with a focus on Japanese games and developers, along with coverage of anime.

Abstract

Games Business was a bimonthly trade journal published by Imagine Media, covering the internal business of the game industry. The magazine was marketed specifically to game retailers and focused on business and marketing strategies and executive leadership.
