Abstract
Carolyn Rauch was the senior vice president of the Interactive Digital Software Association (later the Entertainment Software Association) and a founding organizer of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). In various roles at the ESA and event organizer IDG World Expo, Rauch oversaw multiple gaming events, including E3; the public-facing spinoff event E for All; and the Game Marketing Summit (previously known as MI6).
Arrangement
This collection includes many promotional kit folders. In general, materials in these folders were cataloged together, which is how the were originally received. However, some materials may have been added to these folders after the fact; we could not verify that the items in these folders exactly match their original contents. Materials were separated when they obviously did not match their containing folder.
Due to their close affilation and related history, materials related to E for All have been organized with materials for the Electronic Entertainment Expo.
Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
This collection includes several computer discs with interactive applications that could not be made directly accessible in our digital archive. In these cases, we have provided video recordings of the programs as a surrogate for research access.
Digital copies of many of the industry reports in this collection are provided for free by the Entertainment Software Association (see "Custodial History" notes when relevant). These digital editions are presented as-is, and their presentation or formatting may differ slightly from the print editions held by the library.
Custodial History
These materials were donated to the Video Game History Foundation by Carolyn Rauch in October 2025, on referral from Smithsonian National Museum of American History museum specialist Drew Robarge.
Separated Materials
Carolyn Rauch's donation included copies of Electronic Entertainment Expo guidebooks and E3 Show Daily. These items were separated from this collection and merged into the library's existing collections (see "Trade show and event guidebooks" and "E3 Show Daily"). Copies donated by Rauch are noted in their individual records.
