Scope and Contents

This collection includes an assortment of physical issues of MCV and MCV/DEVELOP dating back to May 1999, along with a substantial collection of digital issues of MCV from 2008–2013.

The majority of the library's physical collection of MCV is from before 2000 or after October 2019. Pre-2000 issues of MCU are from the US edition of the magazeine.

Historical Note

Abstract

MCV (originally The Market for Computer & Video Games) is a long-running game developer trade magazine, originally published weekly and first printed in September 1998. After the magazine was sold to Biz Media in 2019, it was renamed MCV/Develop, reviving the name of the defunct trade magazine Develop from the same publishers and moving from a weekly to monthly format.

MCV was originally published in both the United States and United Kingdom; the US edition was discontinued in 2000, while the UK edition remains in print.

When available, digital editions of MCV have not been altered from their original form. Some advertisements and other visual content may not be text-searchable, which is how the magazines were originally provided to digital subscribers.
