Abstract
Future Play was a promotional magazine and mail-order catalog by video game retailer Try Soft, which sold Nintendo products at their retail locations in the Pacific Northwest. The magazine seems to have been given away for free at Try Soft stores and distributed through the company's mailing list. Future Play's content mostly consisted of advertisements, as well as small amounts of hints, commentary, and letters from readers.
This magazine is notable for containing unique ads for first-party Nintendo titles; during this time, Nintendo generally did not run game advertisements in consumer magazines.
