The library has a complete physical collection of the main run of GameFan. Due to publication difficulties, only five issues of Volume 6 were actually produced, although they retain issue numbering based on the month they were published. Volume 7, Issue 2 was also not produced.

The collection also includes several special issues of GameFan; the only print issue of the unofficial GameFan spin-off magazine GameGO!; and issues of the relaunched GameFan from 2010.

Historical Note

We believe that Volume 7, Issue 4 of GameFan was never distributed to the public due to issues with the magazine's publisher. These problems were not uncommon during this period of GameFan's history (see missing issues from 1998 and early 1999). Noticeably, this was the final issue of GameFan printed in the magazine's original page size, which suggests that a printing-related issue may be the cause of this issue's lack of public circulation.

However, a small number of copies of this magazine do appear to have been printed, one of which is held by the Video Game History Foundation's library. We speculate that these copies may have been from a test printing and that the only people to receive this issue were GameFan employees.
