Historical Note
The Japanese localization of Lunicus featured new character art by Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo, as shown on this flyer. The text in the yellow circle translates to "Lunicus (Japanese version) character rename design [by] Katsuhiro Otomo."
This artwork was likely commissioned by Bandai, which published Lunicus in Japan under their Emotional Digital Software label. Although internet users have speculated the new artwork may be related to an unreleased port of Lunicus that was announced for Bandai's Pippin @World game platform, the Japanese release of Lunicus for Macintosh predates the launch of the Pippin by several years.
According to this flyer, Lunicus was released in Japan on February 11, 1994.
