Historical Note

The Consumer Electronics Association was originally a division of the Electronic Industries Association. As an EIA subsidiary, it was known as the Consumer Electronics Group until 1995, then the Consumer Electronics Manufacturers Association from 1995–1999.

The organization adopted the CEA name when it became an independent entity in 1999. Its name was later revised to the Consumer Technology Association in 2015.
